Nearly naked in ad, Sydney Sweeney sparks controversy again

Sydney Sweeney
Hollywood actress Sydney Sweeney is once again at the center of controversy. This time, the Euphoria actress is making headlines for a new advertisement rather than a movie or series.
Sweeney appears almost completely naked in an advertisement for Novig, a new sports trading and prediction app. She is seen using various sports equipment to cover parts of her body, including basketballs, footballs, a hockey goal, football pads, a baseball catcher’s helmet and a hockey goalkeeper’s mask.
Sweeney is not only the face of the campaign. She has also become a strategic partner and shareholder of Novig.
Speaking about the advertisement, Sweeney said, “The purpose of this campaign was to bring a fun idea to life. The thought is very simple. Remove all the extra noise and put the focus entirely on sports.”
At the beginning of the advertisement, Sweeney says, “Think you know everything about sports? Prove it.” She is then shown sitting naked on top of a basketball hoop with several basketballs and footballs covering her body.
The advertisement then features Sweeney in different sports equipment. She appears wearing parts of a hockey goalkeeper’s gear, football pads and a baseball catcher’s helmet. She later wears a Novig jersey.
Novig began operations across the United States last month. The platform operates under a federally regulated framework and requires users to be at least 21 years old. The company has combined modern financial market trading methods with sports based prediction markets.
This is not the first time Sweeney has appeared in a revealing advertisement. After launching her underwear brand SIRN earlier this year, she appeared in several promotional videos for the brand.
Last year, Sweeney also starred in an American Eagle jeans advertisement. The campaign sparked widespread online controversy over its wordplay involving the phrase “good jeans.”
Sweeney is also having a busy period in her acting career. Following the success of The Housemaid, she will appear in its sequel, The Housemaid’s Secret.
She also starred in Anyone but You. The relatively low budget romantic comedy eventually earned nearly $400 million and became a major box office success.
Sweeney’s upcoming projects include Netflix’s Gundam and StudioCanal’s the Custom of the Country.
