Hand bomb explodes inside abandoned Madaripur house

A hand bomb exploded inside an abandoned house in Ghatmajhi, Madaripur on Wednesday.

Madaripur Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle) Fariha Rafique Bhabna confirmed the matter.

According to police and local sources, the owner, Aminul Islam Khan, has been living in Khulna for a long time. One of the houses on his property has been sitting abandoned for nearly seven years. Locals suddenly heard a blast coming from the house.

When they detected smoke and a burning smell, they called the police. Officers from the Madaripur Sadar Model Police Station arrived to inspect the house. The police initially suspect that a hand bomb exploded inside the room, causing the severe damage to a large section of the tin-shed house.

Following the blast, the police strengthened patrols and are trying to contact the owner. Police said legal action is underway.
