HSC examinees are protesting by blocking the road in front of the Education Board in Chattogram city to press home their three-point demands.
The program began at 11 am on Tuesday and the blockade created long traffic jams on both sides of the road.
The students’ demands include: examinations must be held simultaneously for every board across the country. Exams cannot be conducted for other boards while keeping them suspended for any single board.
Moreover, re-examination arrangements must be made for students who were unable to participate in the exams last Monday due to disastrous weather. New admit cards and registration cards must be quickly supplied to those students whose documents were ruined or damaged in the recent floods.
While one side of the road remained open, the blockade caused severe traffic jams on the other side. This caused significant suffering for pedestrians and passengers.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (North) Sohel Parvez told Agamir Somoy, “The students are continuing their movement. Police are ensuring their security. At the same time, efforts are being made to move the students from the road by persuading them to normalize the movement of vehicles quickly.”
