The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) has decided to reduce the price of jet fuel used in the turbine engines of civil and military aircraft. The new prices were set this Thursday.
After increasing the price by 132 Taka in three consecutive phases, the commission has now decided to reduce it by approximately 22 Taka per liter.
According to the new prices announced by BERC, the price of jet fuel for domestic flights has been reduced from 227.08 Taka to 205.45 Taka per liter.
Additionally, for international flights, the price per liter has been lowered from 1.4806 USD (excluding customs and VAT) to 1.3385 USD. These new rates will take effect from midnight tonight.
In January of this year, the price of jet fuel was 94.93 Taka per liter. In February, it was increased by 0.19 Taka to 95.12 Taka per liter.
Following the onset of the Iran-United States conflict in late February, international fuel supplies were disrupted, leading to a direct impact in March. In the first phase of significant hikes, the price jumped from 95.12 Taka to 112.41 Taka.
On March 24, within a span of just two weeks, the price was raised for a second time to 202.29 Taka. Finally, in April, it reached a peak of 227.08 Taka.
