17 police officers forced into retirement, including 16 DIGs

The government has forced 17 senior Bangladesh Police officers into retirement, including 16 Deputy Inspectors General (DIGs) and one Additional DIG-ranked officer.
The order was issued today, Sunday, under the direction of the President. It was signed by M. Manzur Morshed Chowdhury, Senior Secretary of the Police-1 Branch of the Ministry of Home Affairs, through an official notification.
The notification states that the officers of the BCS (Police) cadre have been retired from government service in the public interest under Section 45 of the Public Service Act, 2018. It also states that they will receive retirement benefits as per existing rules.
Those placed into compulsory retirement include DIG Mofiz Uddin Ahmed of the Anti-Terrorism Unit, DIG Imtiaz Ahmed of Highway Police, DIG Habibur Rahman of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), DIG Saleh Mohammad Tanvir of the Police Headquarters, and Director Harun-or-Rashid of the NSI. Others include DIG SM Aktaruzzaman of Police Staff College, Commandant Haider Ali Khan of PTC Noakhali, Commandant Mahbubur Rahman Bhuiyan of PTC Khulna, DIG Ruhul Amin of Tourist Police, DIG Rafiqul Hasan Goni of Highway Police, DIG Mizanur Rahman of River Police, and Commissioner Majid Ali of Rangpur Metropolitan Police.
The list also includes DIG Kazi Zia Uddin of Police Headquarters, DIG Golam Rouf Khan of Railway Police, Commandant Rezaul Haider of PTC Rangpur, DIG Rakhfa Sultana Khanam of Highway Police, and Superintendent of Police (Additional DIG rank) Farhat Ahmed of Railway Police.
Earlier on April 22, the government sent 13 DIG- and Additional DIG-rank officers into compulsory retirement.
