Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has said the bureaucracy must become more people-oriented to build a modern and prosperous nation.
The Prime Minister made these remarks on Saturday morning (April 25) at a ceremony following the foundation stone laying of the third building of the BIAM Foundation in the capital's New Eskaton.
"There is no alternative to developing a merit-based, efficient, and people-friendly public administration in all state institutions to build the Bangladesh we envision," he said, emphasizing the importance of training to develop civil servants as true servants of the people.
The Prime Minister noted that the current government is determined to cultivate a merit-driven, confident, creative, and responsible workforce. During his speech, he recalled the spirit of the July-August student-led mass uprising. Tarique Rahman said the 2024 uprising has once again made it clear that the people are the true owners of the state.
"For a long time, the common people have yearned for an accountable, justice-based, and welfare-oriented governance system. The current government is a reflection of those aspirations," he added.
