Budget raises tax-free limit for women, senior citizens

The 2026-27 fiscal year budget is expected to raise the tax-free income limit for female taxpayers and senior citizens.
According to the proposed budget, women and senior citizens (those aged 65 or above) will receive an additional benefit of Tk 50,000 above the general threshold, setting their initial tax-free limit at Tk 4,25,000.
Due to inflation and the rising cost of living, a significant increase in the tax-free income limit for individual taxpayers is expected over the next five years.
