Two men died in a fire that broke out at a building named Al Baraka Tower in Katabon, Dhaka.

Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) Police Camp In-Charge Inspector Md Faruk confirmed the matter on Saturday. The victims were identified as Md Joni, 24 and Abdus Salam, 20.

Fire Service received the emergency call around 1:05 am and dispatched six firefighting units to the scene, bringing the blaze under control by 3:08 am.

They rescued the two men in critical condition and rushed one to DMCH and the other to the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery. Sarwar, who accompanied the victims to the hospital, noted they had suffered severe injuries from smoke inhalation.

Inspector Faruk added that the bodies are at the DMCH morgue and that the police station has been notified.
