Following the strikes on various targets in Iran, US Vice President JD Vance has said that violence will be met with violence.
In a social media post, he wrote: "Iran has signed a ceasefire agreement. We respect it. If they have any disagreements over how the memorandum of understanding is being implemented, they can call (negotiate). But violence will be met with violence."
On Friday, the US struck various targets in Iran. Prior to this, CENTCOM said the strikes were carried out in response to 'Iran's drone attack' on a cargo ship traveling via a route in the Strait of Hormuz. The US claims that Iran did not authorize the route the ship was using.
Earlier on Friday, a senior Iranian diplomat claimed on social media that, according to the memorandum of understanding signed between the US and Iran, all ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz must coordinate with Iran's coastal authorities while navigating. Even if they use routes near Oman's coast, they must do so.
