Nassa Group Workers Block Tejgaon Road Over Unpaid Salaries

Garment workers of the Nassa Group staged a protest in Tejgaon Industrial Area, Dhaka’s on Tuesday, blocking the main road to demand unpaid salaries and other dues.
Tejgaon Industrial Area Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mahbubur Rahman confirmed that between 100 and 150 workers took to the streets around 10:15 am.
The demonstration caused severe traffic congestion, spreading to surrounding roads and creating long queues on both sides of the main thoroughfare.
OC Mahbubur said that police are working to manage the situation and discussions with the workers are ongoing. He expressed hope for a resolution shortly.
The workers have put forward seven specific demands:
- Payment of the salary for the month of May.
- Payment for 2025 leave.
- Payment of arrear bills for December 2025.
- Payment of notice pay-bills.
- Payment of salaries and allowances for the following 4 months (120 days) as per the Labour Act.
- 100 percent payment of service benefits for all workers and employees according to the Labour Act.
- Refraining from any harassment (police cases, threats, intimidation, or physical and mental torture) during the settlement of workers’ dues.
