Underdogs are tormenting the giants at World Cup. After Brazil, the Netherlands, and Spain all settled for draws, Uruguay joined them - held 1-1 by Saudi Arabia in Group H.
Saudi Arabia took the lead in the 41st minute. Defender Abdulelah Al Amri scored from a corner after Muslera failed to clear Mohamed Kanno's header. Al Amri, perfectly positioned, turned the ball into the net.
After the interval, Uruguay dominated entirely. They pinned Saudi Arabia inside their own box for long stretches and finally broke through in the 80th minute. The goal was strikingly similar to Saudi Arabia's - Al-Owais failed to hold Viñas's header, and Araujo collected the rebound to fire home from close range.
Al-Owais later made three fine saves to deny Nicolás de la Cruz, Federico Valverde, and Brian Rodríguez.
Both teams settled for a point each, though Saudi Arabia will be the happier side. In the group's other match, Cape Verde held Spain to a goalless draw - meaning all four teams are level on one point, with Uruguay top on goal difference.
