A brutal stabbing killed a Bangladeshi couple and their daughter, while their son remains hospitalized with serious injuries in Rome, Italy.
The incident occurred Friday evening in an apartment on Via Montilio in the Casalotti area of western Rome. The deceased are Kamal Uddin, 39, his wife Arzu, 38, and Alicia, 6, reports La Repubblica.
Kamal, originally from Noakhali, had lived in Italy with his family for a long time.
According to local media, an unidentified individual attacked the family with a sharp weapon. While the 18-year-old son suffered injuries, doctors reported that he is in stable condition and out of danger.
The motive behind the killings remains a mystery to investigators, as no family members have a criminal record. Rome police have since increased security across the area and are reviewing CCTV footage and the victims’ recent phone records to track the perpetrator.
Authorities are investigating whether a friend or acquaintance of the family was involved, though no agency has officially confirmed this lead. Because the killer remains at large, police are keeping specific details of the investigation confidential.
A senior Rome police official said, “The incident is brutal. Investigations and operations are being carried out with the highest priority to bring the perpetrator to justice quickly.”
