Police have not been able to arrest anyone in the two days since the robbery of Tk 1 crore 21 lakh 25 thousand from the business establishment of Tasin Akhtar Haque Del, a cousin of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman. However, police claim that the investigation has made considerable progress. Since the incident, investigators have analysed footage from at least half a hundred CCTV cameras. The number plates of the motorcycles used by the culprits were found to be unclear.

The robbery took place on Sunday morning when the money was being taken to a bank in Uttara, Dhaka, for deposit. On the way, near the south side of the RAB-1 Battalion headquarters, miscreants intercepted the vehicle and snatched the money bag. A case was filed at the Airport Police Station the same day. The stolen money belonged to DL Petrol Pump.

Tasin Akhtar Haque Del is associated with the ownership of the establishment. He is the younger son of former MP and minister Khurshid Jahan Haque, who is the sister of late former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia.

According to sources, DL Petrol Pump transacts approximately Tk 45–50 lakh daily. As per procedure, the daily sales proceeds used to be taken to the bank for deposit between 10:00 AM and 10:30 AM. Since banks remain closed on Fridays and Saturdays, the proceeds in those two days were supposed to be deposited on the next working day, Sunday. As a result, a relatively larger amount of money was being taken to the bank on Sunday.

Accordingly, employees were taking the pump's money to the bank for deposit. Around 10:30 AM, several miscreants arriving on three motorcycles intercepted them. They first rammed the vehicle, then attacked with sharp weapons and snatched the money bag, fleeing the scene swiftly. In this connection, the petrol pump's manager, Karim, filed a case against unidentified individuals.

Kamrul Hasan, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Airport Police Station, said today (Monday), "No arrests have been made so far in connection with the robbery. Efforts are ongoing to identify the culprits. So far, footage from at least 50 CCTV cameras in the area has been collected and is being analysed. However, the number plates of the motorcycles used by the robbers could not be identified. We are investigating the matter and hope to bring the miscreants under the law soon."
