2 more detained at Dhanmondi 32

Police detained two more men from Dhanmondi 32 in Dhaka on the death anniversary of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on Saturday.

Shortly thereafter, Al Noor Mohammad Ayash, the member secretary of the State Dialogue Forum (SDF), and several others beat and drove away another individual on suspicion of being an Awami League (AL) member.

Earlier, a man identified as Arnab Das was detained while arriving at Dhanmondi 32 to offer flowers. Dhanmondi Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Imdadul Islam confirmed that Arnab is an active member of the Tangail District Jubo League.

Meanwhile, security has been intensified across various parts of Dhaka. Since the morning, an increased police presence has been visible in several areas, including Dhanmondi 32.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) press release on Friday said Dhaka has been brought under a security blanket to counter any unwanted incidents or disruptions to public safety.

Picket and checkpoint duties are being carried out and searches have been intensified by setting up checkpoints at all entry points of the city.

Alongside these measures, members of the Detective Branch (DB) and the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit will also be active in the field.
