A court has shown Tamanna Nusrat Bubly, a former Member of Parliament from the reserved women's seat under the Awami League government, as arrested in a case filed over organizing an illegal procession. Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Awlad Hossain Muhammad Zunaid passed the order today (Monday), after a hearing.
Bubly was produced before the court under police escort. During the proceedings, the investigating officer of the case and Sub-Inspector (SI) of Tejgaon Police Station, Md. Shariful Islam, presented arguments justifying the arrest.
SI Shariful Islam said inquiries with various individuals in the investigation area and local probes have revealed that Bubly has been a financier and instructor for that procession. He noted that on September 7, 2025, she was seen moving around the scene with other suspects and actively participated in the march. Evidence of her involvement in the incident has been found.
Earlier, on September 29 of last year, Bubly was arrested and produced before the court. Public Prosecutor Omar Faruq Faruqi conducted the hearing requesting to show her arrested in this specific case. Following the hearing, the court ordered her to be shown arrested and put in jail.
According to the case details, at around 1:30 PM on September 7, 2025, several individuals from the banned organization Chhatra League and the restricted organizations Awami League, Jubo League, and their affiliates held an illegal procession with banners on the road in front of Park Town Restaurant in Manipuripara, Tejgaon. They reportedly detonated two cocktails consecutively with the intent to destabilize the state and create public panic. Upon sensing the arrival of the police, the individuals attempted to flee, and Mirajul Islam Miru, a member of the restricted organizations, was apprehended. The police filed a case at Tejgaon Police Station on that same day regarding the incident.
