The married life of Bollywood actor Govinda and his wife Sunita Ahuja seems to be a high-voltage drama. Sometimes it is love, sometimes rumors of infidelity, and at other times the two publicly take jabs at each other. Their 31-year marriage has long remained a hot topic in Bollywood.
This time, the couple’s domestic conflicts and playful banter have made their way directly to the stage of the popular OTT reality show Lock Upp 2.
Sunita, Govinda’s wife, is competing as one of the contestants on the show. To surprise her, Govinda appeared on the set. But he did not come empty-handed. He arrived carrying a real bullet in his pocket.
In the show’s new promo, Govinda is seen telling hosts Farah Khan and Riteish Deshmukh, “A few days ago, Sunita said in an interview that if she were to shoot me, she would not shoot me in the leg, she would shoot me in the chest. So today I brought the bullet in my pocket. Tell her—here is the bullet, now go ahead and kill me!”
Everyone on the set burst into laughter at Govinda’s joke. But amid the humor, the actor did not miss the chance to poke fun at his own marriage. Looking toward the show’s jail set, Govinda said, “Everyone can see this lockup, but there is an invisible lockup in my life that no one sees. I have actually come from that prison!”
In 2024, Govinda accidentally shot himself in the leg while cleaning his revolver. At that time, Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty jokingly asked whether Sunita had fired the shot.
Responding to that in an interview, Sunita had said, “Govinda told only half the story! I told Shilpa that if I fired a shot, I would not shoot him in the leg, I would shoot him straight in the chest. If you do something, it should be done perfectly, not halfway!”
Behind the laughter and jokes, Sunita has also openly admitted to Govinda’s alleged infidelity and the bitterness in their married life on the stage of Lock Upp 2. On the very first day of the show, she claimed that Govinda had been involved with numerous women since the beginning of his career.
In one-episode, fellow contestant Shreya Kalra asked Sunita, “Does Govinda still cheat on you?” In response, Sunita sighed and said, “What can I say now about something that has been happening from the very beginning? He is a superstar hero; you cannot hold him back. You cannot say anything to heroes.”
Sunita further said that society teaches women to tolerate whatever their husbands do in marriage and keep the family together. That, she said, is why she has remained Govinda’s “better half” for life despite his countless affairs.
