Jaber and Zuma Step Down From Inquilab Cultural Center

Abdullah Al Jaber and Fatima Tasnim Zuma
Abdullah Al Jaber, the founding executive director and current chairman of the Inquilab Cultural Center, and Fatima Tasnim Zuma, the organization’s current vice president and a founding member, have announced that they are stepping down from their positions.
They announced the decision in separate Facebook posts on Wednesday night. However, despite leaving the Inquilab Cultural Center, they will remain in charge of the Inquilab Mancha.
Jaber and Zuma also said that, in response to the demands of the heirs of martyred Osman Hadi and based on existing documents and records, a decision has been made to hand over the Inquilab Cultural Center to the claimants.
In his post, Jaber wrote, “Before his martyrdom, Shaheed Osman Hadi had taken the initiative to form a trust for the Inquilab Cultural Center, but he could not complete it.”
Noting that the organization had been planned from its inception to operate as ‘a trust of the people,’ he said efforts had been made over the past six months to resolve the issue concerning the heirs, but the situation had become even more complicated.
“To preserve the honor that Almighty Allah has bestowed upon Shaheed Osman Hadi, and in response to the claims of his heirs and on the basis of all documents and records, it has been decided to hand over the Inquilab Cultural Center to the claimants,” Jaber wrote in the post.
Meanwhile, in her Facebook post, Fatima Tasnim Zuma wrote that after July, she had rejected various political proposals and joined Inquilab in the interest of pro-Bangladesh culture. However, as time passed and the organization began to enter the political sphere alongside its cultural activities, she expressed concern over the matter.
Zuma said that issues related to the heirs came to the forefront following the martyrdom of Osman Hadi. Although efforts were made to form a trust, it could not be completed. Later, as various public discussions, propaganda and defamatory comments regarding the heirs issue spread, she came under personal mental pressure.
Fatima Tasnim Zuma, secretary for Liberation War and Democratic Movement Affairs of DUCSU, wrote, “To preserve the honor that Almighty Allah has bestowed upon Shaheed Osman Hadi, and in response to the claims of his heirs and on the basis of all documents and records, it has been decided to hand over the Inquilab Cultural Center to the claimants.”
Zuma also said that although the accounts operated before the martyrdom of Osman Hadi had been frozen, all financial records of the center during her tenure would be published soon.
“We will continue trying to uphold the trust and love that people have placed in Inquilab, and the struggle will continue through another medium,” added the DUCSU leader.
