Venezuela Earthquake Death Toll Surpasses 3,500

The death toll from the two powerful earthquakes that struck the South American country of Venezuela has surpassed 3,500, according to a report by Qatar-based media outlet Al Jazeera.
On Monday, the country's lawmaker, Jorge Rodríguez, said the death toll from the twin earthquakes has reached 3,535. Additionally, 16,740 people have been injured. The earthquakes have left more than 16,800 people homeless, with 12,800 of them taking refuge in shelters.
On Monday, eyewitnesses from La Guaira reported seeing forensic workers transporting coffins by truck, where victims were being buried in an open area.
Notably, two consecutive earthquakes measuring 7.2 and 7.5 on the Richter scale struck on the afternoon of June 24. This caused damage or destruction to more than 60,000 buildings. Experts have also warned of a growing health crisis.
