Hyderabad Unveils ‘Donald Trump Avenue’

A major road in Hyderabad has been renamed Donald Trump Avenue, with the new name officially unveiled at a ceremony organized by the Telangana government. Officials described the move as a symbol of the close relationship between India and the United States.

US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor and Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka jointly unveiled the road sign during the event.

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy first announced the renaming during the Telangana Rising Summit in December 2025.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vikramarka said the United States is more than just a country on a map for many people in Hyderabad, noting that residents often have family members, friends, businesses, or professional ties across American cities such as Boston, New Jersey, Seattle, and Austin.

He said the relationship between Telangana and the United States extends beyond government-to-government ties and has been built through students, professionals, entrepreneurs, and families.

Highlighting Hyderabad’s long-standing connection with the technology sector, Vikramarka said the city has attracted major investments since the 1990s and has produced global technology leaders, including Satya Nadella.

He added that cooperation between Telangana and the United States now spans artificial intelligence, life sciences, renewable energy, vaccines, space technology, and advanced manufacturing, describing the relationship as a partnership in innovation rather than merely outsourcing.

Ambassador Gor attended the event as part of the Freedom 250 program marking the 250th anniversary of US independence. He said India-US relations have reached a new level of strategic depth.

According to Gor, mutual trust remains the foundation of the relationship, creating new opportunities in trade, defense, technology, pharmaceuticals, space research, and investment.

He also said Washington and New Delhi are working together on several major global issues and added that relations have gained new momentum under the leadership of Donald Trump and Narendra Modi.

Vikramarka said naming the road beside one of America’s important diplomatic facilities was more than a ceremonial gesture. He expressed hope that the avenue would symbolize new journeys for students, scientists, entrepreneurs, investors, diplomats, families, and dreamers.

Also attending the ceremony were US Consul General in Hyderabad Laura Williams, members of the Telangana cabinet, senior government officials, business leaders, and representatives of the diplomatic community.
