Shakib Al Hasan’s distance from the Bangladesh national team has grown significantly, though communication with the board remains active.
He has obtained a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Bangladesh Cricket Board to play in the Sri Lanka Premier League.
Despite limited involvement with the national team, communication between Shakib and the board remains active. Taskin Ahmed and Liton Das, who also hold direct contracts, have similarly been granted NOCs.
Both Taskin and Liton will miss Bangladesh’s upcoming T20 series against Zimbabwe. According to Cricbuzz, the duo has been rested from national duty to allow participation in the LPL.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Hasan Mahmud, who were selected through the draft, have also been cleared to play in the tournament.
BCB Cricket Operations Chairman Shahriar Nafees confirmed the decisions, saying, “Liton and Taskin will not be part of the T20 series against Zimbabwe. They have been given NOCs to play in the LPL. Along with them, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Hasan Mahmud and Shakib Al Hasan have also been granted NOCs for the league.”
In this year’s LPL, Shakib and Taskin will represent Jaffna Kings. Liton Das has been picked by Galle Gladiators, while Miraz will also play for the same franchise. Hasan Mahmud has been signed by Colombo Caps.
The sixth edition of the Lanka Premier League will begin on July 17, with the final scheduled for August 8.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh will tour Zimbabwe this month to play a test match, three ODI, and three T20. The lone test will begin in Harare on June 28, with the ODI series concluding on July 11, while the T20 series will run until July 19.
