Ekushey Award-winning poet Al Mujahidi has passed away (Inna Lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un). He breathed his last Friday afternoon while undergoing treatment at the Surgical ICU of the United Hospital in the capital.
Cultural personality Saifullah Mansur confirmed the news of his death on his verified Facebook profile.
Al Mujahidi had been suffering from various age-related complications and ailments for a long time. He had been bedridden since contracting Chikungunya last year.
Poet Al Mujahidi previously served as the literary editor of the Daily Ittefaq. During his student life, he was actively involved in student politics, and he was an active freedom fighter in the glorious Liberation War of 1971.
