Even before the kickoff of the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup, discussions are already underway about the financial strength and squad values of the participating teams. Fans are eager to know which team is worth how much.
According to the latest data from the transfer market valuation website Transfermarkt, France, led by Kylian Mbappé, is the most valuable squad in the tournament, while Jordan is the least valuable.
The French national team’s total market value stands at a record £1.32 billion. Their most valuable star, Kylian Mbappé alone is worth £173 million—the highest individual valuation in the tournament.
England, coached by Thomas Tuchel, ranks second with a squad value of £1.13 billion. Their most valuable player, Jude Bellingham, is valued at £121.08 million. Spain holds third place with a squad value of £1.09 billion.
Only these three teams have crossed the £1 billion mark.
Surprisingly, reigning world champions Argentina, led by Lionel Messi, are ranked eighth with a squad value of £707.76 million. Other teams in the top eight include Portugal (4th), Germany (5th), Brazil (6th), and the Netherlands (7th).
Outside Europe and South America, Ivory Coast is the most valuable African team at £459.07 million, ranking 11th overall. Among Asian teams, Japan leads with a squad value of £241.16 million, placing 22nd.
Despite being joint hosts, North American teams have relatively modest valuations: the United States is 18th (£327.03 million), Canada 26th, and Mexico 27th.
Jordan, making its first-ever World Cup appearance, is the least valuable squad in the tournament with a total market value of just £16.89 million.
Interestingly, this is even less than the annual salary of England captain Harry Kane at Bayern Munich, which is around £21.5 million. In other words, Kane earns more in a year than the entire Jordan squad is worth.
Just above Jordan are Qatar, last World Cup’s hosts (£17.24 million), and Saudi Arabia which ranks 41st with £31.09 million.
