Masud Khan Appointed as New BSEC Chairman

Masud Khan, Group CEO of Crown Cement PLC, has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC), the stock market regulator. The government has appointed him to the position for the next four years.
The matter was confirmed today, Thursday (June 4), through a gazette notification signed by Farzana Jahan, Deputy Secretary of the Financial Institutions Division (Capital Market-1 Branch) under the Ministry of Finance.
The notification said subject to the termination of his employment relationships with all other institutions and organizations, Masud Khan has been appointed as Chairman of BSEC for a period of four years from the date of his joining, in accordance with Section 5(2) of the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission Act, 1993. His salary, allowances, and other benefits will be determined by the agreement signed with the government.
Earlier, The five-member full board of the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC), the stock market regulator, had resigned.
The list includes BSEC Chairman Khondoker Rashed Maqsood and four other commissioners.
They submitted their resignation letters today, Thursday, to the Financial Institutions Division of the Ministry of Finance.
Khondoker Rashed Maqsood confirmed the resignation matter to Agamir Somoy.
The other four commissioners who resigned are: Md. Mohsin Chowdhury, Md. Ali Akbar, Farzana Lalarukh, and Md. Saifuddin.
The notification also mentions that this order, issued in the public interest, shall take effect immediately.
