Complaints Filed Against Shaon, Mahi Over July Uprising Remarks

Rashtra Songlap Forum filed complaints against actress Meher Afroz Shaon, film actress Mahiya Mahi, and Shanta Farzana on Friday.
The complainants accused the three women of insulting the July Mass Uprising, making distasteful remarks, and spreading propaganda.
Shahbagh Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Moniruzzaman confirmed the matter. The complainants requested legal action based on various posts and videos published on social media.
Moniruzzaman said, “Since this is a cyber-related complaint, it has been sent to the DB Cyber Division for verification as part of the investigation. They will conduct the inquiry.”
He added that they would take legal steps if the investigation confirms the truth of the allegations.
The complaint stated that the July uprising is a significant chapter in the history of Bangladesh, marked by the sacrifices of martyrs and the injured. It alleges that the individuals have recently engaged in derogatory activities and remarks regarding the movement.
It added that Shanta Farzana published a video on social media showing shoes being thrown at or striking a July memorial, an act that has sparked public outrage.
