Rainfall may increase in next five-day across country

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has predicted that rainfall is likely to increase across various parts of the country over the next five days. This information was posted on BMD website in their the five-day weather forecast section issued on Tuesday morning.

According to the forecast, a trough of low pressure extends from Gangetic West Bengal to the Northwest Bay of Bengal. The monsoon troughis fairly active over Bangladesh and remains weak to moderate elsewhere over the North Bay.

On Tuesday, light to moderate rain or thundershowers, to be accompanied by temporary gusty winds and lightning, are likely to occur at many places over Rangpur, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong, and Sylhet divisions, and at a few places over the Rajshahi and Dhaka divisions. Additionally, moderately heavy to heavy falls may occur at isolated places across the country. Both day and night temperatures are expected to remain nearly unchanged.

On Wednesday, light to moderate rain or thundershowers with gusty winds and lightning are expected at many places over the Mymensingh, Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong, and Sylhet divisions, and at a few places over the Rangpur, Rajshahi, and Dhaka divisions. Isolated moderately heavy to heavy rainfall may also occur nationwide.

On Thursday, light to moderate rain or thundershowers are likely at a few places over the Rangpur, Mymensingh, Chittagong, and Sylhet divisions, and at one or two places over the Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna, and Barisal divisions. Isolated moderately heavy to heavy falls may occur in parts of the Rangpur, Mymensingh, Chittagong, and Sylhet divisions. Day and night temperatures may rise slightly across the country.

On Friday, light to moderate rain or thundershowers may occur at a few places over the Rangpur, Mymensingh, Chittagong, and Sylhet divisions, and at one or two places over the Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna, and Barisal divisions. Moderately heavy to heavy rainfall is possible at places within the Rangpur, Mymensingh, Chittagong, and Sylhet divisions. Day temperatures may decrease slightly, while night temperatures are expected to remain stable.

On Saturday, light to moderate rain or thundershowers are predicted at a few places over the Rangpur, Mymensingh, Chittagong, and Sylhet divisions, and at one or two places over the Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna, and Barisal divisions. Isolated moderately heavy to heavy falls may occur in the Rangpur, Mymensingh, Chittagong, and Sylhet divisions. Temperatures may decrease slightly on this day. The extended five-day outlook indicates that the tendency for rainfall is likely to increase further.
