The store is a hardware shop and located in the Nil Dumur market at Shyamnagar of Satkhira district. In the morning, the owner opened the shop and went inside only to find a snake moving around the products on the shelves.
Officials from the forest department, after notifiying, arrived and confirmed that it was a python.
The incident took place today, Monday. The accounts come from hardware trader Md. Harun.
He said, "As usual, I opened the shop in the morning and saw a large snake coiled up inside. The commotion drew crowds of people from the market to the shop. Later, the forest department was notified."
Around 9:30 AM, with the help of locals, staff from the forest department's Burigoalini station and members of the Community Patrol Group (CPG) rescued the snake.
According to locals, such a large python had never been seen before in a densely populated area like the market. However, due to its proximity to the Sundarbans, various wild animals occasionally wander into human settlements.
Irfan Uddin, an officer at the Burigoalini forest station, said the snake is a python. After a health observation, it will be released into a safe and suitable habitat in the Sundarbans.
His advice: in such situations, the safest and most effective step is not to panic or harm the animal, but to promptly inform the forest department.
