Four More Children Die With Measles Symptoms

Four more children died with symptoms of measles across Bangladesh in the past 24 hours, from 8 pm Sunday to 8 am Monday, while health authorities identified 1,145 new suspected and confirmed cases of the disease.
The information was released Monday in the Directorate General of Health Services' latest measles situation report.
According to the report, 1,004 people were identified as suspected measles patients over the past 24 hours. Since March 15, the cumulative number of suspected cases has reached 100,211.
During the same 24-hour period, 141 cases were laboratory-confirmed as measles, bringing the total number of confirmed infections to 11,851 between March 15 and June 29.
The report also said that 83,806 suspected measles patients have been hospitalized since March 15. Of them, 80,193 have recovered and been discharged from hospitals.
Four children died with suspected measles symptoms during the past 24 hours. Since March 15, a total of 623 children have died with suspected measles, according to the health directorate.
