Vijay Sethupathi bringing Maharaja sequel

In 2024, the Tamil film “Maharaja” shook the entire Indian film industry. Audiences around the world were impressed by the extraordinary twists and crime thriller story built around a seemingly minor allegation involving the theft of a trash bin. Starring Vijay Sethupathi, the film created a storm everywhere from the box office to OTT platforms.

Now, fans of the film have received double good news. “Maharaja 2” is coming soon. Not only that, a Hollywood remake of the film is also in the works.

Vijay Sethupathi himself recently confirmed the news of “Maharaja 2” at the audio launch of a film. He said director Nithilan Saminathan has already narrated the remarkable script for the second installment to him and that it is going to be even better than the first installment.

“Maharaja” also recorded business of Rs 91.65 crore in China alone. Soon after that, a major Hollywood agency acquired the remake rights to the film.

After receiving the news from producer Sudhan Sundaram, an excited Vijay Sethupathi jokingly said, “Brother, get me even a small role in that Hollywood remake! In return, I will work for free in a film without charging any fee if needed. Just take me to Hollywood.”

It is believed that renowned Oscar winning star Matthew McConaughey may play the lead role in the Hollywood remake.

Directed by Nithilan Saminathan and starring Anurag Kashyap and Sachana Namidass, the film received widespread acclaim around the world after its release on Netflix. Now, cinema lovers are eagerly waiting for news of its sequel and Hollywood remake.
