Actress Katrina Kaif faced ugly body shaming and trolling when she appeared in public after giving birth to her child. At the Ambani family’s Ganpati festival, a section of netizens repeatedly made harsh comments about Katrina’s weight gain and changes in her appearance.
Finally, Bollywood’s ‘Bhaijaan’ Salman Khan could not remain silent on the issue. Extremely angry, the superstar directly criticized the trolls during a special episode of ‘Bigg Boss 20’.
In a new promo of Bigg Boss that has created a stir on social media, Salman is seen bursting with anger and taking off his coat and cap before throwing them away.
Without naming anyone, he directly addressed the trolls and said, “These days, trolling someone over their age and appearance has become a fashion. Someone has aged, someone has gained weight, someone’s smile is not beautiful or someone has flopped. You are even bullying someone for becoming a mother. By writing these things, you are actually revealing the kind of culture your own family has.”
Taking a swipe at trolls who mocked his age, Salman said, “Yes, I have turned 60, so what?”
Not only did Salman speak out against the trolling of Katrina in the episode, but he also raised his voice against recent trolling of his own brother Sohail Khan’s appearance and Varun Dhawan’s smile. He also strongly criticized the ‘paparazzi’ culture of taking inappropriate pictures of actresses from behind and posting them on social media.
Although rumors of a romance between Salman and Katrina that began on the sets of ‘Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya?’ in 2005 turned into a breakup in 2010, their strong friendship has once again been proven.
The pair has delivered one blockbuster after another including ‘Ek Tha Tiger’, ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’, ‘Bharat’ and ‘Tiger 3’. They also stand by each other during difficult times in their personal lives.
As Katrina faced trolling after becoming a mother, fans on social media are describing Salman’s vocal support as a ‘sign of true friendship’.
