Popular small-screen actress Sadia Jahan Prova has been a victim of trolling and cyberbullying on social media for nearly 16 years. Although she remained silent on the matter for a long time, she recently expressed her pent-up frustration during a Facebook Live session. At the same time, she issued a strong warning against cybercriminals and online bullies.
In the video message, Prova said that she had not spoken publicly about recent events for a while. However, she stated that she can no longer remain silent out of a sense of responsibility. The actress also questioned the mentality of those who troll and mock others online. According to her, those who aggressively judge, insult, or abuse others on social media are essentially dissatisfied with their own lives and positions and suffer from insecurity.
Sharing her own experience, the actress said, "I have been bullied for almost 16 years. You bully me and enjoy it—I completely understand that this gives you some kind of sadistic pleasure. But if you had directed 50 percent of what you do to me (the victim) toward the criminal instead—if you had mocked them, written about them, and repeatedly brought their face before people as a criminal—then the situation would not have been like this."
Prova pointed out that the culture of victim-blaming in society has taken on a terrible shape. Even though disclosing someone's personal information without their privacy or consent is a serious offense, in many cases, the perpetrators are shielded while the victim is blamed.
Addressing online trolls, Prova said, "If you had done even half of what you did to me against the actual criminals, then many criminals would not have been born." In her view, when victims are repeatedly mentally tortured instead of holding criminals accountable in society, that culture becomes even more harmful.
In the video, Prova highlighted childhood trauma, mental health awareness, and the importance of proper parenting. She also called on society to take a stand against actual criminals rather than blaming the victims.
AI adds: Bangladeshi actress Sadia Jahan Prova became a major focal point of social media attention due to a controversial, decades-old intimate video leak. This unfortunate incident led to years of severe online cyberbullying, trolling, and victim-blaming, though she has continued to work in dramas, web content, and government-funded films.
