Actor and filmmaker Dev has officially been announced as the new host of the popular Bengali television game show ‘Dadagiri,’ replacing former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly after years of speculation.
The announcement was made through a newly released promotional video, which shows Dev expressing both excitement and nervousness about taking over one of Bengali television's most iconic hosting roles.
In the promo, Dev admits he feels the pressure of following Ganguly, saying, “Where is Dada, and where am I?” His concerns are eased by fellow actors Jisshu Sengupta and Abir Chatterjee, both of whom have previous experience hosting shows on Zee Bangla. Their encouragement ultimately convinces Dev to step onto the ‘Dadagiri’ stage.
The announcement has generated widespread reactions on social media. While many viewers welcomed Dev as a fitting successor, others argued that ‘Dadagiri’ has become synonymous with Sourav Ganguly, making the transition a significant challenge for the actor.
Ganguly exited the show last year after signing a reported four-year, Tk 125 crore deal with Star Jalsha. The landmark agreement marked the end of his long association with ‘Dadagiri’ and paved the way for his return to television in a new role on the rival network.
With Dev now taking the helm, viewers are eager to see whether he can build on the show’s legacy while adding his own style to the long-running hit.
