Noakhali teacher beaten over rape allegations

Locals beat a madrasa teacher over allegations of raping a nine-year-old female student in Ashwadia, Noakhali on Tuesday.
Sudharam Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Nazrul Islam confirmed the matter. The teacher has been identified as Maulana Mobarok Hossain alias Emran, 45.
OC Nazrul said the madrasa teacher used to tutor the student at his own house. Her family alleged that the teacher raped her at his residence.
After the child became inattentive to her studies over the past few months, her parents scolded her. On Monday, she was taken to a private hospital and she brought allegations of rape against Mobarok.
As the matter became public, locals caught Mobarok and beat him. Police took him to the 250-bed Noakhali General Hospital around 9:15 pm.
OC Nazrul added that legal action will be taken based on the complaint from the child’s family.
