Indian High Commissioner meets road transport minister

Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Dinesh Trivedi has held a meeting with Shaikh Rabiul Alam, Minister for Road Transport and Bridges, Railways and Shipping.

The meeting was held on Tuesday (September 8) at the minister’s office at the Road Transport and Highways Division in the Secretariat. The information was provided in a press release issued by the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges.

At the meeting, Minister Rabiul Alam said, “Bangladesh and India are historically close neighbors. We expect to take the relationship forward in a more positive and fruitful manner in the future by prioritizing the mutual relations, cooperation and welfare of the people of the two countries.”

He further said, “Bangladesh is sincere about further strengthening the existing relationship so that the people of both countries can benefit from mutual cooperation. The relationship between the two countries will move forward further on the basis of mutual respect and cooperation.”

Indian High Commissioner Dinesh Trivedi said at the meeting, “India is extremely interested and sincere in moving its relationship with Bangladesh forward in a positive and constructive manner at all times. The relationship will be further strengthened by prioritizing the mutual welfare of the people of the two countries and the interests of both countries.”

During the meeting, the high commissioner highlighted the shared cultural heritage, historical connections and people to people ties between Bangladesh and India.

Railways Secretary Md. Fahimul Islam, Bridges Division Secretary Mohammad Abdur Rouf, Road Transport and Highways Division Secretary Dr. Mohammad Ziaul Haque, Shipping Secretary Zakaria and Indian Deputy High Commissioner to Bangladesh Pawan Bhade, among others, were present at the meeting.
