Sejuti’s Parents Plead for Justice Before Minister

In Sakhipur of Tangail, the family of schoolgirl Sejuti Rani has been assured that the highest punishment will be ensured if the autopsy report confirms signs of murder in her death. Liberation War Affairs Minister Advocate A. A. M. Khan MP gave the assurance.
On Friday, the minister visited Sejuti’s home to console the grieving family. At that time, her parents fell at his feet and demanded justice and the death penalty for those involved in her alleged killing.
The minister said the autopsy report should be available within a week. If the report confirms homicide, authorities will complete the investigation swiftly and ensure the highest punishment for those responsible.
“Justice in the Ramisa murder case was completed in just six working days. We will try to ensure a similarly swift trial in this case as well,” the minister added.
He also handed over financial assistance of Tk 100,000 to the grieving parents. The atmosphere grew heavy with grief as the family mourned, and a shadow of sorrow spread across the area.
Sejuti’s father, Falu Chandra, claimed that his daughter was killed and her body was dumped in a pond. He demanded a fair investigation and the death penalty for those responsible.
Sakhipur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Helal Uddin, said police have been working around the clock since Sejuti went missing. They are awaiting the autopsy report. If evidence of wrongdoing is found, police will determine the exact cause of death and take necessary legal action.
Sejuti Rani, a second-grade student of Adarsha Shishu Kanan Pre-Cadet School and daughter of Falu Chandra from Mandirpukur area of Ward No. 7 in Sakhipur municipality, went missing after 4 p.m. on June 20. Two days later, on the morning of June 22, locals spotted her body floating in a pond at Sakhipur Upazila Parishad. Police later recovered the body and sent it to Tangail Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
