An attack has been launched on the vehicle of Aynul Haque, Member of Parliament for the Sirajganj-3 (Raiganj-Tarash) constituency. The car's glass was smashed.

The incident occurred around 7:00 PM today (Saturday) in the Dhangara Bazar area of Raiganj Upazila. Police have confirmed that Aynul Haque is unharmed.

Aynul Haque quickly left the scene and went live on Facebook, where he blamed Jamaat-e-Islami and the Nationalist People's Party (NCP) for the attack. He demanded that the administration ensure his security and arrest those involved in the attack.

Following the news, tension spread across the upazila. BNP leaders and activists held protest marches in various locations.

Rezaul Karim Khan, Assistant Publicity Secretary of Sirajganj District BNP and former General Secretary of Dhangara Union BNP, said that an urgent exchange meeting was held today at Dhangara Bazar regarding the establishment of a technical education and training center in the upazila. The attack was carried out at the meeting venue.

"The discussion meeting began around 5:00 PM, mainly about where the technical education and training center would be built. Many wanted it in Dhangara, while others wanted it in Chandaikona. After listening to everyone, the MP said in the meeting, 'I will form a committee. That committee will recommend where it would be best to establish it,'" said BNP leader Rezaul Karim.

Rezaul added, "After the MP said this, a group demanded that the announcement must be made that the institution will definitely be in Dhangara. When the MP did not make that announcement and wanted to end the meeting and leave, 150 to 200 activists of Jamaat-Shibir and NCP attacked him. At that time, his car's glass was broken."

When asked about the allegations, Raiganj Upazila Jamaat Amir Ali Mortuza told Agamir Somoy, "Only one of our leaders were present in the meeting that was supposed to decide where the technical education and training center would be constructed...I myself was not there."

Denying any involvement of Jamaat-Shibir or NCP in the attack, he said, "One party wants the institution to be in the Dhanagora area, while the MP and many others want it in the ChandaiKona area of the upazila. They sat in a discussion meeting over this today. Apart from one Jamaat member, no second person was there. Perhaps those who want the institution in the Dhanagora area carried out this attack. Among them could be BNP activists and ordinary people. But now the blame is being placed on us, which is not true."

Additional Superintendent of Police of Raiganj Circle Saiful Islam Khan said the MP was not injured. However, some parts of the vehicle were damaged. Details will be provided later.
