Automatic fine system being launched on Dhaka-Chittagong highway

To ensure road safety, strengthen traffic discipline on highways, and implement a transparent and technology-dependent system against vehicles violating traffic laws, an Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based "Auto Fine System" is set to be launched on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway.
Highway Police will officially start this operation from next Tuesday. This information was announced in a press release sent by Highway Police this Saturday afternoon.
The release said with the help of modern AI cameras installed on the highway, various traffic violations—including exceeding the prescribed speed limit (overspeeding), illegal parking, and driving vehicles in the wrong direction—will be automatically detected. After identifying a law-violating vehicle, the detailed case information will be sent directly via SMS to the registered owner's mobile phone through an automated system. Upon receiving the case information, the vehicle owner will be able to pay the fine from home using prescribed mobile financial services (MFS) such as bKash, Nagad, etc.
Highway Police said that this technology-dependent system will make the process of rapid detection of offenses on the highway, data storage, and fine collection faster, more transparent, and more accurate. This will increase public awareness about complying with the law on the highway, restore order in traffic movement, and significantly reduce road accidents.
