Female passenger voluntarily pays Tk 25,000 fine for ticketless train travel.

A woman pays fine at Ishwardi Railway Junction station for many free train rides, on Saturday. Agamir Somoy.

A female passenger voluntarily paid a fine of Tk 25,000 to the railway authorities after realizing her mistake of traveling by train without a ticket for a long time.

She deposited the money at the ticket booking counter of Ishwardi Railway Junction station in Pabna on Saturday noon.

Abdul Alim Biswas Mithu, Senior Ticket Examiner (TTE) of Ishwardi Railway Junction, said that the woman was employed at an organization. Due to her job, she frequently traveled without a ticket from Ishwardi station to various destinations, including Bheramara Railway Station in Kushtia. After a long time, she realized her mistake and took the initiative to correct it by deciding to pay the fine to the railway authorities.

With that intention, she contacted AKM Nurul Alam, the Railway Traffic Superintendent (Ticket Checking). Following his advice and cooperation, she appeared in person at Ishwardi station on Saturday and handed over Tk 25,000 as a fine. The railway authorities accepted the money and issued her a money receipt.

Chief Booking Assistant of Ishwardi Junction Shahidul Islam and Traffic Superintendent AKM Nurul Alam were present during the transaction.
