Gold prices rise

Gold prices have risen again in the country’s market. The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) made the decision to set the new prices at a meeting of its Standing Committee on Price Determination and Price Monitoring on Saturday morning.
BAJUS said the price of pure gold has increased. The prices were adjusted after reviewing the overall situation. The new gold prices came into effect at 10 am on Saturday.
According to the new prices, the price of one bhori of 22 carat gold has been set at Tk 232,930. The price of one bhori of 21 carat gold has been increased by Tk 1,050 to Tk 222,491.
The price of one bhori of 18 carat gold has been increased by Tk 933 to Tk 191,056. The price of one bhori of traditional method gold has been increased by Tk 758 to Tk 156,064.
BAJUS said in a notice that the new prices include VAT. However, making charges will be added separately depending on the design and craftsmanship of the jewellery. A decision on VAT for silver jewellery will be announced later.
Although gold prices have increased, silver prices remain unchanged. Including VAT, the price of one bhori of 22 carat silver has been set at Tk 5,016.
The price of one bhori of 21 carat silver has been set at Tk 4,782. The price of one bhori of 18 carat silver has been set at Tk 4,082. The price of one bhori of traditional method silver has been set at Tk 3,091.
