4 traders fined, jailed over fertilizer hoarding in Natore

A mobile court fined and sentenced four traders to imprisonment in Singra, Natore, on charges of illegally hoarding fertilizer to create an artificial crisis and selling it at higher prices.
Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Nishat Anjum confirmed the matter and led the drives in Borogram Market under Dahiya Union of the upazila. They seized 261 bags of fertilizer.
According to mobile court sources, authorities seized eight illegally hoarded bags from Sohel Hossain, fining him Tk 10,000 and sentencing him to seven days of simple imprisonment.
Traders Abdus Salam and Abul Hashem were each found with 53 bags of fertilizer and each received fines of Tk 20,000 along with seven-day simple imprisonment.
Meanwhile, officials seized 147 bags from trader Mobarak, who was fined Tk 30,000 and sentenced to seven days of simple imprisonment.
