A total of 421 tourists stranded in Rangamati’s Sajek valley finally departed Friday, after continuous rainfall raised water levels on the only connecting road.
Sajek Cottage and Resort Owners Association President Suparno Deb Barman confirmed the matter. The tourists left Sajek at 9:20 am with the assistance of the army. The departure follows the exit of another 150 tourists on Thursday.
Cottage Owners Association and the administration reached a joint decision on Thursday to move the tourists out. This coordinated effort has allowed nearly 600 tourists, who were trapped for three days in Rangamati, to begin their journey home.
Earlier, Rangamati District Administration had declared Sajek Valley closed indefinitely on Tuesday until further instructions.
