Five teenage friends had gone to the Patenga beach without informing their families. One of them was swept away by the waves' current. The other friends returned home and, 'out of fear,' told no one about the incident. Meanwhile, the missing boy's family was frantically searching for him. Later, they identified their son's lifeless body at the morgue after seeing a photo posted on Facebook by the police.
In this incident in Chattogram city, the four friends of the deceased, Sayed Munif Ahmed Shaan, were arrested last Monday night. Halishahar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Kazi Muhammad Sultan Ahsan Uddin confirmed the information.
He said that last Saturday afternoon, Shaan left his coaching center and went to Patenga Sea Beach with his friends. That night, Patenga Thana Police recovered his body from the beach as an unidentified person.
The body lay at the Chattogram Medical College Hospital morgue for two days. The police station posted a photo on Facebook to identify him. Last Monday night, his family went to the morgue and identified the body as Shaan's.
