Although the conflict in the Middle East has eased for now, its 'aftershocks' continue to persist. Rising global fuel prices have pushed up the cost of essential commodities. Inflation is also now posing a renewed threat, according to the General Economics Division (GED) of the Planning Commission.
The agency raised the concern in its 'Economic Update and Outlook, April 2026' report published on Thursday.
The report states that overall inflation slightly declined in March 2026, as a drop in rice prices helped offset persistent pressure from rising costs of fish, meat, and vegetables.
