Rizvi to opposition parties
Give government alternative plan to resolve crisis

BNP Acting Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has said that the current gas and power crisis in the country is linked to global wars and disruptions in the fuel supply system. He called on opposition parties to provide the government with an alternative plan to resolve the ongoing crisis.
He made the call as the chief guest at the induction ceremony of the newly elected executive committee of the Bangladesh Dance Artists Association at the National Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in the capital on Friday (September 4).
Addressing the opposition parties, Rizvi said, “You will hold long marches and announce programs over gas and electricity. That is fine. But give us an alternative. Tell us how we can supply gas and electricity. Where will we get it from and how will we get it? Give us a plan on what steps can be taken to address this crisis. Opposition lawmakers have the opportunity to speak in Parliament.”
He said, “They will criticize the government and organize various programs outside Parliament. That is a normal practice of democracy. However, along with criticism, they need to advise the government on how the crisis can be addressed.”
The BNP Acting Secretary General said, “I do not think creating a planned paralysis is the right approach. Instead, a plan must be given on how this crisis can be resolved. But if we repeat the past, it will take us back to the culture of the past. This will only deepen the darkness.”
Speaking about the gas and electricity crisis, the Prime Minister’s political adviser said, “The current situation is also linked to global wars and the crisis in the fuel supply system. In particular, disruptions to fuel transportation through the Strait of Hormuz have created a crisis in importing the necessary fuel.”
Referring to various cultural performances during the July movement, Rizvi said, “Songs and dance created enthusiasm among people and strengthened the momentum of the movement.”
The program was presided over by Bangladesh Dance Artists Association President Farhana Baby. State Minister for Road Transport and Railways Habibul Rashid Habib was present as a special guest.
Also present were BNP Cultural Affairs Secretary and film actor Ashraf Uddin Ahmed Ujjal, Joint Cultural Affairs Secretary Saidur Rahman (Said Sohrab), Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy Director General poet Rezauddin Stalin and others.
