The Bangladesh Government Officials and Employees Welfare Association has announced that if the gazette for the 9th National Pay Scale is not published by next August, it will declare a larger program involving government officials and employees across the country.

The announcement was made in a statement sent today (Sunday) by Ashikul Islam, Member Secretary of the association.

The statement said that if the new pay scale notification is not issued by August, the association will first initiate discussions with senior government officials. If those discussions prove unsuccessful, a larger program will be announced with the participation of government officials and employees nationwide.

Ashikul Islam said, "Government officials and employees have long been expecting a timely, realistic, and fair pay structure. However, the delay in issuing the notification for implementing the new pay scale has created anxiety and uncertainty among them." He raised the question, "Where is the notification for implementing the new pay scale stuck?"

He expressed hope that the government needs to take swift and effective action to fulfill this long-standing expectation. Implementing the new pay scale would improve the standard of living of government officials and employees, while also enhancing work efficiency and the quality of public service.

Ashikul Islam stated that the organization believes in peaceful, responsible, and democratic programs. Therefore, its first approach will be to reach an acceptable solution through dialogue with relevant senior government officials. However, if that effort fails, the association will determine next steps in the interest of government officials and employees and announce a nationwide larger program.
