Low pressure forms over Bay of Bengal, heavy rain likely along two coastal regions

A low pressure area has formed over the northwestern Bay of Bengal. It may intensify into a well marked low pressure area within the next 24 hours. Due to its influence, the northern Bay of Bengal has become rough, prompting the issuance of Local Warning Signal No. 3 at the seaports.
At the same time, spells of rain are likely in parts of the country’s southern and northeastern regions.
These details were provided in today’s Sunday weather forecast issued by the private organization Bangladesh Weather Observation Team.
According to the forecast, scattered rain is likely today across the southern and northeastern parts of the country under the influence of the low pressure area. In particular, several areas in the southern parts of Chattogram and Khulna divisions are expected to receive comparatively heavier rainfall.
In addition, moderate to severe thunderstorms are forecast in Chattogram and Sylhet divisions today. Residents in those areas have been advised to remain cautious if they hear thunder.
Along with the rain, both daytime and nighttime temperatures across the country may increase slightly. As the influence of the active rain belt ‘Barshan’ has weakened somewhat, muggy conditions may prevail in some parts of the country. During breaks in rainfall, temperatures in parts of Rangpur, Rajshahi, and Sylhet divisions may approach mild heat wave conditions. Depending on the location, the country may receive between seven and 11 hours of sunshine today.
The weather bulletin said fishing boats and trawlers have been urged to navigate with caution as the sea remains rough near Chattogram and surrounding coastal areas. During the past 24 hours, the highest rainfall recorded in the country was 20 millimeters in Hatiya.
During the same period, the highest temperature was recorded at 35.8 degrees Celsius in Tetulia, while the lowest temperature was 23.2 degrees Celsius in Narayanganj.
