Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s Information Adviser Zahed Ur Rahman said that a roadmap has been established for the upcoming local government elections. The official schedule is set to be declared during the second half of August.
He made these remarks on Tuesday in a weekly briefing held at the Press Information Department (PID).
Zahed added that local government elections will commence on October and are scheduled to be completed by October 2027.
During the briefing, he addressed the cocktail explosion at an NCP rally in Savar. He assured that an investigation will take place, saying that those involved will be detained and face strict legal consequences.
Turning to the July Memorial Museum, Zahed said that the facility will be inaugurated before 5 August. He added “This government is the government of July. Insulting remarks regarding the July mass uprising and its martyrs are completely unacceptable.”
He also raised concerns over unsafe food management, noting that harmful chemicals used during crop cultivation and preservation pose significant health risks. To combat this, the government will develop a comprehensive database of food traders.
Zahed added, “A decision has been made to create a database by collecting data on the country’s food traders. Besides educating business owners, we will implement legal actions to stop unsafe food management practices.”
