Several Injured in Cocktail Blast at NCP Rally

Miscreants detonated a cocktail bomb at the venue of a post-march rally organized by NCP in Savar, leaving several people injured. The injured were taken to Enam Medical College Hospital for treatment. The explosion occurred at around 9:45 ptm on Monday while the rally was underway at the Eidgah ground near Savar Thana Stand.
The injured were identified as Md. Shahin Khandakar, 30, a staff member of Enam Medical College and son of Md. Gani Khandakar of Atakhali in Bakerganj, Barishal; Md. Jasim, 26, a student of Enam Medical College and son of Jamal Uddin of Goalmari in Tetulia, Panchagarh; and Md. Shahadat Hossain, 40, son of Osman Gani of the Muktir Mor area in Savar.
NCP central member Yasir Arafat confirmed the explosion during the rally. He said miscreants carried out the attack while Dhaka District NCP Convener Engineer Nabila Tasnid was delivering her speech. NCP Convener and Opposition Chief Whip Nahid Islam, Member Secretary Akhtar Hossain MP, Chief Organizer (Northern Region) Sarjis Alam, and other party leaders were present on the stage at the time. Several people sustained injuries in the incident.
Following the attack, NCP leaders gathered in front of Savar Model Police Station and staged a protest against the incident.
The National Citizen Party launched its nationwide 'July March 2026' program to press for the implementation of a referendum, job creation, and stronger border security. As part of the campaign, the party on Monday began activities in 100 upazilas and municipalities across all 64 districts through marches and rallies, including the event in Savar.
Nur Mohammad, investigation officer of Savar Model Police Station, said, “We are at the scene. We are investigating the explosion and trying to identify and arrest those involved.”
