US Ambassador Impressed by Sylhet's Natural Beauty

The US Ambassador to Bangladesh, Brent T. Christensen, has praised the natural beauty of Sylhet. On Tuesday morning, during a courtesy meeting with Sylhet City Corporation (SCC) Administrator Abdul Kayum Chowdhury at the Nagar Bhaban, he expressed his admiration for Sylhet's natural beauty.
During the meeting, the Ambassador inquired about the various public service activities of the City Corporation. The SCC Administrator welcomed him with flowers and briefed him on urban development, citizen services, and ongoing development projects.
After the courtesy meeting, the Ambassador was presented with a replica of Sylhet's traditional tea leaves and famous Sylhet tea as gifts. Later, the artisan prepared and served the traditional seven-color tea for the Ambassador. The Ambassador and the SCC Administrator drank the tea together.
During the meeting, SCC Chief Executive Officer Mohammad Rezai Rafin Sarkar, Secretary Md. Ashik Noor, Chief Engineer (Acting) Md. Ali Akbar, Chief Revenue Officer Bishwajit Deb, Chief Health Officer Dr. Md. Zahidul Islam, and Public Relations Officer (Additional Charge) Nehar Ranjan Purkayastha, along with other senior officials, were present.
The Ambassador was accompanied by US Embassy officials from Dhaka, including Political and Economic Officer Eric Gillan, Public Affairs Counselor Monica L. Shie, Deputy Director Richard Brunner, Political Advisor Firoz Ahmed, and other officials.
Later, the 250th anniversary of US Independence was celebrated with musical performances at the Keane Bridge and Ali Amjad's Clock premises. Students from various educational institutions in Sylhet took part. The US Ambassador and the SCC Administrator were present to enjoy the performances, together.
Earlier, the Ambassador visited the historic Keane Bridge and Ali Amjad's Clock to learn about local heritages.
SCC Administrator Abdul Qayyum Chowdhury said this courtesy meeting would remain as a significant chapter of mutual respect, cooperation, and experience sharing.
