Launch Event Held for Authorized Bengali Translation of The Stand

A launch event for one of the largest authorized Bengali translations of Stephen King’s acclaimed novel The Stand was held yesterday afternoon at the World Literature Center building in Banglamotor, Dhaka. Organized by Bibliophile Publications, the event was hosted by writer and poet Farhan Hasan.
Writers, translators, publishing professionals, and literature enthusiasts attended the event.
Md. Sabbir Hossain, publisher of Bibliophile Publications, said interest in Stephen King’s books is steadily growing among Bangladeshi readers. He expressed hope that The Stand would further expand that interest.
Book content creator Lincoln Hasan described The Stand as a milestone in Bengali horror translation literature. He also referred to translator Md. Fuad Al Fidah as a ‘living legend’ of translated literature.
Writer Khaled Nakib said Md. Fuad Al Fidah is a towering figure in Bengali translation literature. He added that very few translators have the ability to translate a work of this scale.
Cover artists Riazul Islam and Sazal Chowdhury also praised Stephen King’s distinctive storytelling and commended the translator for successfully preserving the novel’s atmosphere in Bengali.
Translator Maruf Hossain said Md. Fuad Al Fidah’s dedication to translation, editing, and original writing is rare in Bengali literature.
