Five Die of Dengue in 24 Hours

Five people died from dengue in the past 24 hours, from 8 pm Sunday to 8 am Monday, while 124 new patients were admitted to hospitals across the country during the same period.
The figures were released in a press statement issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Monday.
According to the statement, the five fatalities included two men and three women. With the latest deaths, the dengue death toll this year has risen to 18, including 10 men and eight women.
So far this year, a total of 5,924 dengue cases have been reported, including 3,679 men and 2,244 women.
Among the deaths recorded in the past 24 hours, 56.5% were male and 43.5% were female. Two of the victims were under the age of 50.
